Content: Dr. NB Ngcipe Foundation â€œDriving Positive Changeâ€ The Dr. NB Ngcipe Foundation (NBNF) is a registered nonprofit organization that was founded in 2012 in honor of the late Dr. Norman Bantwini Ngcipe who sacrificed his life for humanity and freedom. Driven by his love of the underprivileged masses and selflessness, the Foundation seeks to empower the Blue Crane Municipalityâ€™s youth, so that they can flourish, succeed and break the cycle of poverty in which many South African communities are trapped. In our view, the best way to achieve this is through educating our youth. The Foundation aims to drive positive change by providing quality formal and informal education, knowledge and skills needed to become active and contributing members of the broader South African community and economy. Dr. Norman Bantwini â€œTotoseâ€ Ngcipe Dr. Norman Bantwini Ngcipe was born in Somerset East, on the 10th of November 1955 to Thembisa and Zolile Ngcipe. He matriculated with a distinction in 1975 at St Johnâ€™s College in Umtata and enrolled to study Medicine at the University of Na-tal in 1976. He fulfilled the requirements for the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1981, at the age of 26. He commenced his internship at Edendale hospital, Pietermaritzburg in 1982. Dr. Ngcipe was an underground ANC operative. His underground work started while he was still a student. He continued working for the ANC even after starting work at Edenvale Hospital. It was on the 9th of December 1982 that he met his untimely death in exile, when the SADF raided ANC houses in Maseru, Lesotho. 41 other people were killed including Lesotho citizens. His remains were exhumed and reburied in Somerset East on the 29th of May 1999 at a monumental grave at the Dr. Ngcipe Library.
